Five Days from Homeless

Dear friends and colleagues:

We are in urgent need of your prayers, ideas, and assistance in finding a place to live while Cheryl battles yet another round of cancer as described below. Because we have only a few more days to find housing, weâ??re sending this email to everyone we know, praying someone has an idea, a carriage house, an in-law apartment, a second home, a need for house-sitting---anything that would enable us to live close to the Peabody cancer facility where Cheryl is going through treatment for at least the next few months. Though many of you live outside of Massachusetts, perhaps you know someone in your contacts list who lives or owns property on the north shore of MA?  Would you share this email with them?  Also, would you prayerfully consider sharing our revised Gofundme page with groups, congregations, mailing lists and other contacts.

By now, some of you have learned Cheryl is facing yet another battle with cancer, this one even more difficult than the first.  Five months after beating back endometrial cancer, doctors discovered a large tumor in her rectal wall; then discovered it had penetrated the wall and is in the lymph nodes. They also discovered a "more concerning" malignant polyp in her upper colon. Surgery is not presently an option for either. 12 weeks of chemo, then 6 weeks of daily radiation AND chemo, and then reassess for possible next steps. Currently into her sixth week of chemo (third infusion), she is experiencing a long list of side effects in addition to the cancer itself.  Please pray, too, that her medical team is successful in their search to treat both cancers at once in order to spare her having to repeat this process again. At the present time, surgery isnâ??t an option for either cancer, but doctors hope surgery will be possible following their current treatment plan.

Over the past five years of unyielding health challenges, we have exhausted every resource as wave after wave of medical expenses swept through our lives, with no end in sight. And while I (Randy) will be starting a new seasonal job in two weeks, our income continues to be vastly overwhelmed by our medical insurance, co-pays, deductibles, uncovered expenses, etc.   Overwhelmed, too is our band of faithful givers, many of whom have shared sacrificial gifts for many years to enable us to reach and serve hundreds (face-to-face), thousands (weekly in emails and correspondence), tens of thousands (free online Bible study downloads), and even millions (through the birth of the Theology of Work Project and guest devotionals for Our Daily Bread and dozens of other websites and publications.) Your help in expanding the reach of this email will not just help us; it will continue the work God is doing in the middle of our weakest moments; redeeming even our darkest episodes as He cares for us one day at a time. EVERY FORWARDED EMAIL, EVERY SOCIAL MEDIA POST POINTING OTHERS TO OUR NEED, AND EVERY GIFT makes a difference! Thank you for your past support and your present prayers. Weâ??ll be starting to chronicle this journey at our new website, www.IntersectionZ.com, as soon as we can settle into a home again. Please join us as we wait to see what God does next.

Please share this with any/all of your friends and contacts. Thank you for your help!

Blessings,

Randy Kilgore
